This short course provides the unique opportunity to master the skills involved in making a pair of trousers that really fit! Using the modern method of working from a commercial pattern, you will learn how to personalise the fit. This will be tried out by making a toile (test garment), in your chosen style. Once the fit has been perfected you will proceed to construct the trousers in your chosen fashion fabric. Step by step guidance will ensure that you achieve a professional finish. Early booking is advised on this extremely popular course. Suitable for those with some previous sewing experience. A list of requirements will be provided on booking.

Serge and Sew a Cap Sleeved Top £59.50 1 day Saturday 14th April 2007
This workshop is designed to hone your overlocking skills! You will cut and assemble the top in your size, learning how to stabilise and finish the necklines and armholes before inserting Janet's unique shaped neckband, complete with 'bra gripper' installed to protect your modesty on those plunging necklines! The pattern can be adapted to a variety of necklines including boat shaped and 'V' neck. Fabric and pattern are supplied. You will require your overlocker.

Bring along a pattern for a blouse, top skirt or dress. Learn how to alter the pattern to your personal fit. Then make a calico toile (test garment) to check and fine tune the fit. Embellish a Waistcoat £65.00 1 day Saturday 1st September 2007
Discover the creative elements of your overlocker in this new workshop. You will be introduced to the creative elements of overlocking. Discover how to make braid and also how to create stunning effects using decorative threads and yarns. During the course you will start to construct and embellish a single layer fleece waistcoat to be completed at home. A fun way to gain confidence as you improve your skill levels. Intermediate to advanced.

Heirloom Sewing £59.50 1 day Saturday 13th October 2007
Recreate the Victorian white work of your great grandmother’s day in a fraction of the time using modern methods. A basic zig zag sewing machine is all that you need! Topics covered will include wing needle application, lace insertion , Elizabethan pin tucks, puffing and shadow work, enabling you to create a beautiful heirloom cushion.

Active Wear £59.50 1 day Saturday 3rd November 2007
Learn the specialised techniques involved in making leotards, unitards and other stretch active wear in this new workshop. Topics will cover fabric and pattern compatibility, measuring techniques and elastic application. All will make a sample garment. You may wish to bring an overlocker as well as your sewing machine. Please note you will require a stretch needle and a stretch twin needle for this course. All other materials supplied.
