Learn to Sew £120 10 – 12pm
This 10-week course is a gentle introduction into the world of sewing. If you’ve never touched a sewing machine before or if you’ve tried it but were unsuccessful, this course is a must. The first two weeks will focus on the correct use of a sewing machine, from threading and tensions to stitch lengths, widths and foot pressure. Learn the adjustments required when using different fabric types and understand the importance of using the correct needle, thread and bobbin type. You will use accessories including the zipper, blind hem and buttonhole feet for professional effects. Use the techniques learnt to produce decorative cushion covers with button and zip fastenings together with a sewer’s tote bag for your future projects! Machines can be provided, if you want to bring your own make sure that it is in good working order with at least straight stitch, zig zag, blind hem and buttonhole stitches. Students to provide materials, a list will be provided on booking.

Learn to Dress-make £120 2 – 4pm
This 10-week course is an ideal follow up course to Learn to Sew, and is suitable for those who have a good working knowledge of their sewing machine. If the process of choosing a pattern and then making sense of the terminology of that pattern terrifies you – this course is a must. Learn how to choose the correct pattern size for your measurements. Find out what different pattern markings represent. Discover the meaning behind terms like ‘bias cut,’ ‘toile’ and ‘with nap’. Learn about the different types and weights of interfacing available and when they should be used. Each student will make a skirt from the Burda Start range in their own size featuring darts, facings, lining, interfacing and a zipper. Students to provide materials, a list will be provided on booking.

Introduction to Beading £15 ½ day
During this half day workshop you will learn how satisfying creating patterns with beads can be. Whether you want to create jewellery, tassles or more this workshop is sure to offer inspiration.

Learn to use your embroidery machine
Learn to use your embroidery machine is a new collection of half day workshops designed by Debbie and Desanne to help you get the best from your Husqvarna Viking Designer embroidery machine. During this collection of inspirational workshops you will complete small projects featuring embroidery. Please find below classes currently available.

All about Stabilizers £39.95 1 day
If you don’t know your solvy from your sticky and when to use them then this class is for you. Spend a day embroidering samples and playing with a selection of the many different stabilizers available, stabilizers include, solvy, sticky, cut away, iron on and heat away. Materials provided.

Speciality Lace £39.95 1 day
Learn how to master the techniques involved in using water soluble stabilizer to create the very beautiful lace designs now available for home embroidery machines. Learn how to hoop correctly and balance tensions for perfect embroidery. Learn how to mould your creation and use remnants of ultra solvy to create a stiffening solution. All will make a free standing lace project. Materials provided

Embellishing Jeans £29.95 1 day
If you’ve got any tired looking jeans in your wardrobe it’s time to give them a new lease of life using your Husqvarna Viking Designer embroidery machine. Use embroidery to embellish jeans legs and pockets. Combine this with the sewing features of your Designer model to create a garment you’ll want to wear again and again.

Crazy Patchwork £39.95 1 day
Using designs from Husqvarna Vikings crazy patchwork collections we will create a decoratively pieced panel ready for you to quilt and bind at home. Using the templates provided we will leave the traditional techniques behind to construct intricate patchwork panels in minutes.
